Five Minute Friday - Grow

Liking up with Lisa-Jo today for another fabulous Five Minute Friday!

Today's word is.......GROW.

Here I go.

My first thought when I saw grow was....Oh how I hope my waistline doesn't "grow" too much next week during Thanksgiving. Cause I'm about to dive all up in some turkey and dressing, cranberry salad, cheesy rice, green bean casserole and a pie of some sort. My pants feel a little tighter just thinking about it all.

OK so now that I got that out of the way....let's get on to some real meat.

Like ummm...the meat of His Word.

    "For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes ; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit."   Jeremiah 17:8

I love this description...being a tree planted by the water. Being a tree that grows deep roots. Being a tree that won't fear when the  hard times heat comes.

It blesses my heart to watch people grow in their relationship with Christ. It especially blesses me to see my girls growing in their walk. Seeing the fruit that they bare in their small sphere of influence.

Thank you Lord for the growth and the growing pains. Because with one usually comes the other.

Uggh! My time is up! Spent too much time talking about food. Sorry you had to "see" me being a glutton.

    Mmmm. I love that verse. And the growth that it demonstrates. God's word is so rich. Thanks for sharing this today. And I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving meal!

    Hi Tracey, I came by from 5 Minute Friday. What first drew me was the beautiful profile photo of you and your daughters. I then read your About me and enjoyed getting to know you better. I prayed for your husband and family.

    I also enjoyed reading your "grow" post. You made me smile about the food-talk :) but your message was so powerful. I am a Mommy and a Grandma and the most important things to me is seeing each of them GROW in CHRIST so I understand that.

    I look forward to getting to know you better as we both continue to GROW in the LORD until He calls us home.

    I just have to laugh at the food comment - because I totally get it. Of course, this year will be a challenge since I've gone gluten free and dairy free, but I still need to be careful I don't OVER eat. Because that is definitely NOT the kind of growing I want to do. ;)

    And yes, there are growing pains in the growing closer to Him, but all well worth it. :)

    @Caroline and Stephanie, yes those pains hurt when you're going through them but I love the hindsight. I just suddenly thought of the song that goes "I can see clearly now the rain is gone." That's just how my crazy brain is working today! LOL :) God Bless you all.

　 Do you ever look back on some months and wonder how so many things could go wrong in four short weeks? We’ve not had a record month, but we’ve had our share of days where we just shook our heads and sighed…”Really!!” We’ve had a busted toe, a trip to the ER, and slip down the stairs. Today I’m mapping new ground. I’m going two hours away with complete strangers. This is so far our of my comfort zone it’s not even funny. Don’t get me wrong. I’m no recluse. I can hold up my side of a conversation fairly well, but honestly it’s much easier not to. Not to get involved. Not to learn their stories and not to share mine. It’s easier to stay in my own safe little world with the known. “Not what I want from you” says the One who created me. So I’ll go and I’ll mingle, and I’ll do what He’s called me to do. I’ll be His light. I’ll tell them my story and I’ll hear theirs. Then, just maybe, through my obedience and by His grace they’ll know more about His story when we part.
