Merriam-Webster defines reentry as "retaking possession", and as "the action of reentering earth’s atmosphere after traveling in space."

I say YES to both of those definitions.

I say yes to the later because I do feel as if I’ve been traveling in space for the last year. Just sort of floating around with no clear direction. Well, maybe some direction. I guess I could put it this way….you know how astronauts float around in space…the zero gravity makes getting anywhere a slow, grueling process…there’s no getting in a hurry in space. It is what it is. Well, that’s how I’ve felt. I see my goal, my destination, but I’m in slllooowww motion getting there. Not because I’m not trying with all my might…cause I’m running on the inside….but conditions around me are keeping me in slow motion. And so I just put one foot in front of the other, slowly, paitently, until I get to where I’m going.

This slow is also hard.

Slow takes time to learn.

Slow is a part of reentry.

God knows this and He teaches His wise lessons to me.

He knows what reentry entails and what I will need to make it successful.

I say yes to retaking possession because this too is a part of reentry.

Along about Friday I started my process of reentering Earth’s atmosphere. It was a two day journey from the deep South to the heart of the North. A journey across six states and the Mason-Dixon line. A journey with three girls wide-eyed and giddy with anticipation. It was a journey away from home, but in our hearts it was a journey….back home. We were reentering the atmosphere of family. We were about to start the process of retaking possession of the thing we had been holding in our hearts for a year, but longed to hold in our arms.

I find it amusing that Webster defines reentry as “retaking possession”. I can’t think of a better way to describe what our lives are like. We go for so long living joined, yet separate, lives. We get used to doing things our way and he his way. We have our schedule, our routine, as does he. Then all of a sudden we reenter each others atmosphere and start retaking possession. We have to find how we fit again. It’s a bit clumsy at first. Like trying to put a puzzle back together. You have to get the pieces turned just right. Spin the pieces around, sit back and study the puzzle, and find a home for each piece. Because each unique piece will fit only where it is designed to fit. And when all those pieces are put into place they reveal the beautiful picture.

We took possession of our family this weekend. We took the pieces, studied them, twisted them and turned them. Each piece found it’s perfect fit, just as He designed.

My skin seems to fit better now.

I’m at home again.

1 Corinthians 13:7 “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

*This post is dedicated to Val. A women of great courage who will understand this post completely. Can’t wait to hear your “reentry” story Val!!

With all that He has under His control, He still takes time to let me know that loves me, He cares for me, and He sees me and will meet me wherever I am.

Another Opportunity

This weekend we have an opportunity.

Another opportunity to lift up the women in our lives.

Sunday is the day marked on our calendars for the celebration of our Mothers.

I applaud the Mothers that are reading here. Mothers everywhere. In whatever season of motherhood that they may find themselves.

I want to give encouragement to women everywhere who long to, but are yet to be mothers. I want to let you know that even if you never usher a child into this world that shares your DNA, there is someone out there that needs a mother figure in their life. Sweet sister, you just might be that woman.

To the Mothers who didn’t experience the pains of birthing, but have their own sense of birth pains through adoption.

For the Mothers who carried that precious child for those days, weeks, or months and had to give him or her back to the Father.

Ladies I’m on my feet jumping up and down applauding like mad!!! I’m your cheering section!! The one on your sidelines shouting “You can do this thing!!!!“, “You are beautiful!!“, “You are a GREAT Mom!“, “You offer so much to this world!”

I want to challenge the women here to live lives that are Godly examples to the girls in your care. Girls that may one day grow up to be mothers themselves.

I am so thankful to God for blessing me with the privilege of being a mother x 3. I sort of think of my girls as being on loan to me from God. They are, after all, His children and I'm merely the fortunate women that He has chosen to be their caretaker here on this earth.

Motherhood is a tough job and is definitely not for the faint of heart. So I am here today to tell you moms, and moms in training….press on. Keep fighting the good fight and keep pointing your children (no matter what age), and the children in your sphere of influence, toward Jesus.

I ran across a post recently, written by Heather Boresma that I think sums up the cry of a Mother’s heart in a few, simple, yet beautiful words.

She says….

I want to love better, without selfish ambition or vain conceit.

To serve, to give, to unload and load the dishwasher a thousand times in a row. To empty the garbage at 9:38pm without a negative thought. To get up to lock the doors or turn down the thermostat. To sweep and dust and as I work, allow myself to be renewed and refined and put back into my rightful place – below the ones I love.

I want to love like Jesus.

Happy Mothers Day to you all!!!

Loving you,

Thanking God for you,

Recognizing what you’re going through and what you have been through,

Think About it Thursday!

Starting a new trend over here at LOE.

Gonna call it "Think about it Thursday"

Here's how it will work.

Every Thursday I'll post a picture, quote, or verse.

It will be something for you to chew on.

Then...tell me what you think!

I'd really love it if you all would leave me a comment with the first thing that pops in your head. Or...if you'd like to think on it a while that's fine too, but I'd  still LOVE your thoughts.

So here we go.

Let's see what we can do with this ladies!

In honor of Mother's Day.....

Think about it....

Getting your wheels turning,

Trying something new,

Maybe I can eventually turn this in to some sort of link up....hmmmm....any ideas?

Self Talk

Self talk is a beast!

Can I get an AMEN?!?

Anybody else toting this burden around?

You know, the one that you get fed up with DAILY.

The one that nags and nags and never has anything good to say?

The one that is crazy about comparison. Laughs it up when you forget something for the umpteenth time. Rolls her eyes when you are late….AGAIN. Constantly reminds you that it’s been two weeks since you exercised. Drops hints every morning that your house could be cleaner.

Don’t you just want to shout…..”ZIP IT!!” (cause we don’t say the “S” word at our house) ;)

So what do we do about it ladies?

How do we silence the soul-poisoning voice of self?

Well, I am far from an expert, but I have struggled with the plague of self talk, and have come out on the other side of it with a few answers. (How’s that for a run on sentence!) ( I didn’t say I was cured, just that I had some answers)

I’m sure you know where this is going.

Of course, I found the answers in my instruction manual (aka The Bible).

Isn’t that where the answers are always found?

“Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts” Proverbs 4:23 GN

“Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right…” Phillipians 4:8

“There is therefore, now no condemnation, for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2

“…take every thought captive to obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Now some affirmation from our Father…..

“When the cares of my heart are many, Your consolations cheer my soul.” Psalm 94:19

Today’s discouragement will be replaced by tomorrow’s joy.

“..They shall obtain joy and gladness. Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.“ Isaiah 51:11

“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4

We’ll never be perfect while we live on this earth, but we will ALWAYS be His. We need to walk in the light of who God made us to be. Not daughters that are cast down and defeated, but ones that are conquerors. Standing on His Word and in His power.

Tune out your voice and tune in to His.

The One that is telling you that you are BEAUTIFUL in His eyes.

Here's a little Pre-Happy Mother's Day gift for ya.....

Seeing your beauty today,

Hearing His Voice,

Real on Five Minute Friday

It’s Five Minute Friday again!

The time where we stop, drop, and write.

I grow to love this time more with each passing week.

Hey! Why don’t you join me? Just plop down and let those creative juices flow for 5 mins flat.

Then you can link up with Lisa-Jo over at The Gypsy Mama.

Don’t have a blog? I’d still love to read what you lay down. Shoot me an email or leave your Real in the comments.

I wrote about Real once before….it may have even been a FMF.

Today, I’m gonna try to put a new spin on it, just because I love FMF so much.

Life would really be much easier if we would all just show our Real.

Do you realize how much energy and effort it takes to conceal it?

We spend way to much money on the outfit that everyone will like, or the makeup that covers all of our Real, or the house/car that will be bigger, better, newer.

I think that it is quite possibly an insult to God when we hide our Real.

Real is how He made us.

No frills, no bells and whistles.

And while someone else’s real may look better than yours….oh well! You just have to be confident and proud of who God made you to be and stop wasting your precious time fretting over the Jones’.

I’m really liking this topic….I think Lisa-Jo should make a new requirement for FMF….Everyone has to post a picture of their real selves on Friday’s. Who’s with me?

Thank you Lord for the way that you made the real me…..dents, spots, wrinkles and all!

Lovin’ your real today,

Recognizing God

In my reading yesterday, I came across a question.

“Do you experience Jesus Christ in the daily activities of your life?”

My mind immediately went to a conversation that I had just had with a friend. I was telling her how neat it was to see God work in the small stuff, and how He customizes His blessings to the individual person. You see the thing that blesses me may not bless you.

I’ll give you “a day in the life of me” example and we can compare notes…..

I woke up this particular day (reluctantly) with a huge sense of dread for the day that lay before me. I had too much to do and no time to do it. At the top of my list was a trip to Lowe’s (with a three year old) that was going to involve itemized lists, price comparison, hours of my time, and way to much use of my tired brain.

For those of you that don’t know the story behind this, I am in the middle of building a house while living in our travel trailer (scratch that, my husband came home and got our trailer, so now we are borrowing a trailer from our precious friends) and my husband is a thousand miles away in Pennsylvania. (I could write an entire series on this topic, but that’s a story for another day) To say that I’m bordering on crazy would be an understatement. Never mind the fact that I have some sort of disorder that makes it nearly impossible for me to make decisions. Especially when there are a gazillion paint colors, door knobs, and light fixtures to choose from!

Sorry, I’m going into a mini frenzy just recounting this day. YIKES!

Okay, back the good stuff.

On top of the trip to Lowes that I was dreading, I had a list of things that had to be done at home. I had run out of days to put off paying bills, so that had to be done, the check book had to be balanced, I had a mound of dirty clothes that had to be washed so that the girls would have uniforms to wear the next day, and I had a sink full of dirty dishes.

I know you all are saying “Well, welcome to my world!” or “That sounds like everyday at my house.” And you are so right! But for some reason this day was double crazy for me. So just stick with me I really do have a point to all this rambling.

There I was, to-do list in hand, ready to cry, when I just decide to put on my big girl britches and go to it. I started praying like I meant business….“You know what Lord, I can do this! And the reason I can do this is because I know that You’re here with me and You’re gonna get me through it! AMEN!!” (You have to read that with a matter-of-fact, nothing can stop me kind of attitude, while the theme song from Rocky plays in the back ground) I know, sooo weird, right? But hey that’s just how this ole gal's mind works some days. J

So I’m getting ready to head out the door when the phone rings. It’s my husband (the one who made the afore mentioned list). I, of course, think he’s calling to add something to “the list”. Instead, he’s called to say that he’s already taken care of it. --------------WHAT!?!?----------------Seriously girls, I heard a Hallelujah chorus playing in the background when he said that!

God sighting #1.….check!

Once I had composed myself, I got on with the rest of my tasks.

I sat down and started to pay bills.

Now I don’t know about you, but it seems like every month when I go to pay bills I’m always out of stamps or just a few stamps shy of what I need. So this means that I can’t just walk down the driveway and stick em’ in the mailbox. Noooo, this means I have to drive to town (20 mins) and buy stamps at the post office. (I know… I should better organized and more prepared, feel free to scold me in the comments) That’s just the way it seems works for me. Every month when this happens I say “I need to go get some stamps and have them for next month.” but it never happens. Anyway, guess what happened this time. When I got out my book of stamps, I had the EXACT number of stamps that I needed that day!

God sighting #2.…check!

Time to balance the checkbook.

This falls right below scrubbing the toilet on the list of “chores I dislike“.

It never fails that there are always a couple of withdrawals that the “list-maker” forgot to tell me about. Or I get interrupted in the middle of a calculation and have to start over for the fifth time, and each of the five times I’ve gotten a different total.

(OK, I just have to tell you….I am so laughing at myself right now because in print I sound ridiculous!)

So, I’m getting it balanced when I realize that (hold onto your hats) I forgot to right down a DEPOSIT. That’s right I said deposit! Woot! Woot! And on top of that, I realize that little bit has been asleep the whole time and I didn’t get interrupted one single time!

So that makes #’s 3 & 4.….check and check!!

Within just a few short hours God had shown Himself to me FOUR times!

You may look at my list of blessings and think that those things are not a big deal, but like I said He customizes our blessings to meet our needs. He meets us where we are and all we have to do is open our eyes and recognize His presence.

Just like our sweet friend Sara taught us to “Choose Joy”, I am choosing to see God in the everyday, run of the mill moments in my life. We can choose to walk through each day stuck in our routine, shackled to our “lists”, never seeing God’s work, or we can choose to live every moment in anticipation of what God is going to do next. We need to live our lives fully AWARE.

A sweet friend of my daughter taught me a new word the other day.

Gives a whole new meaning to the term “Walking around in a FOG”.

Before I go I want to share with you the prayer that was at the end of my devotion yesterday…..

Lord, I want You to be so real in my life. I know that You are willing to make Yourself know and felt in any part of my life that I will surrender to You. So I choose right now to surrender more of me so I can experience more of You in every sphere of my existence. Jesus, please have Your way in my life. Do whatever Your deem necessary to make me the kind of person I need to be to know and experience You better.

So where did you find God today?

What kind of FOG have you been walking in?

Let me hear from you!

Fill my comment box with the praises of God’s work in your life. (Even the small stuff)

So glad you stopped by today, I pray that you’ve been encouraged.

Thanking God for His Grace today,
