Self Talk
Self talk is a beast!
Can I get an AMEN?!?
Anybody else toting this burden around?
You know, the one that you get fed up with DAILY.
The one that nags and nags and never has anything good to say?
The one that is crazy about comparison. Laughs it up when you forget something for the umpteenth time. Rolls her eyes when you are late….AGAIN. Constantly reminds you that it’s been two weeks since you exercised. Drops hints every morning that your house could be cleaner.
Don’t you just want to shout…..”ZIP IT!!” (cause we don’t say the “S” word at our house) ;)
So what do we do about it ladies?
How do we silence the soul-poisoning voice of self?
Well, I am far from an expert, but I have struggled with the plague of self talk, and have come out on the other side of it with a few answers. (How’s that for a run on sentence!) ( I didn’t say I was cured, just that I had some answers)
I’m sure you know where this is going.
Of course, I found the answers in my instruction manual (aka The Bible).
Isn’t that where the answers are always found?
“Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts” Proverbs 4:23 GN
“Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right…” Phillipians 4:8
“There is therefore, now no condemnation, for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2
“…take every thought captive to obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
Now some affirmation from our Father…..
“When the cares of my heart are many, Your consolations cheer my soul.” Psalm 94:19
Today’s discouragement will be replaced by tomorrow’s joy.
“..They shall obtain joy and gladness. Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.“ Isaiah 51:11
“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4
We’ll never be perfect while we live on this earth, but we will ALWAYS be His. We need to walk in the light of who God made us to be. Not daughters that are cast down and defeated, but ones that are conquerors. Standing on His Word and in His power.
Tune out your voice and tune in to His.
The One that is telling you that you are BEAUTIFUL in His eyes.
Here's a little Pre-Happy Mother's Day gift for ya.....
Seeing your beauty today,
Hearing His Voice,
Tracey
