Meaningful Monday

Today I'm doing some reflecting. I've gone back to my little spiral notebook journal where I wrote my first Eucharisteo. I didn't start out counting them. I've decided to do that. I think I'll list them from the beginning (April 10, 2011) until now. I thank you God for... 1.Thankful that You take the wrong things people do to us and make them right. Thank You for bearing our burdens. Psalm 55:22 2.sunshine 3.cool temps 4.quiet time to study God's Word 5. Kimberly Sowell 6. Kensley's independence 7. feeling good 8. joy 9. the sound of the wind in the trees 10. Peace that comes only from God 11. Thankful that Christ rose on the third day 12. headache is gone! 13. for quiet 14. again for  sunshine :) 15. for my 1/2 finished house and the dirt it sits on (and the fact that it's paid for!) 16. that my kids have two sets of grandparents that are alive and well 17. the safe community that I live in 18. for freedom and the men and women that...

Older....Five Minute Fridays

Image
This was my challenge from The Gypsy Mama.... Let’s write, shall we? Without wondering if it’s right or not. Take five minutes and remember what it feels like to weave words together for the simple pleasure of how they sound. Without worrying about how they’re edited or perfected. 1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking. 2. Link back here and invite others to join in. 3. Get a little crazy with encouragement for the five minuter who linked up before you. OK, are you ready? Give me your best five minutes on: Older… GO!! She will be 3 years old on Sunday, August 28th. 3 years ago she was one of the biggest surprises of our married life. 3 years ago I was in shock....not planning for another child. My youngest was 7. We were done. 3 years ago our blessing in disguise was born. She came in to this world ready to be heard. I, however, wanted silence as I battled post partum depression. 3 years ago, I was in a hurry for her to grow up...t...

New

My 5 minutes on Friday... New.... Hmmmmm... Well I just (literally JUST) finished watching "Soul Surfer" so I have a whole new perspective on the word "NEW". Facing new challenges, learning how to do things in a new way, feeling like you're in a new body (not new as in Jesus is back and transformed you, but new as in different, stranger in, new), facing your fears and embracing the new life God has in store, making the best out of whatever situation you are put in. New life, new body, strength in that newness only through Christ. Favorite quote was "I don't need easy, I need possible."  WOW! New and endless possibilites when you walk daily with God by your side. What "new" are you facing in your life today? Giveit to God and walk forward, head high, knowing that the creator of all is walking with you and cares about you and your "new". <>< Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strength...

Lessons Learned

Thankful for... Lessons learned... After a couple of warnings(thank you officers), finally today, the lesson...written in black and white in the form of a Sunday School lesson on "Recognizing the Lord's Authority". The following is an excerpt from the  Sunday School lesson...."We've all had experiences that remind us our personal authority has limits. One day I was driving to an appointment, and I was late. Temptation got the best of me, and I pressed down on the accelerator more than I should have. Yes, I knew I was exceeding the speed limit. However, I rehearsed in my mind all the excuses typically used while arguing with oneself about such a breach of the law: The appointment is important. The road has few cars on it. I'm a careful driver. No one's watching.  The first three excuses were true statements. The fourth one proved no to be true when the dreaded flashing blue light appeared in my rear-view mirror. I was caught, and I couldn't ignor...

Because it's Tuesday

Thank you Lord for.... warm cups in the AM... hot showers... packed lunches... crisp apples in a bowl... soft light... little red tricycles... warm chocolate chip cookies for an after school snack... questions... even more for answers... for bricks that will hold a house together(physically)... pictures the "I LOVE U MAMA" label, printed by 9 year old hands and stuck on my shirt before going to school this morning... school mornings that aren't hurried... time...for showing me how to take my time...to slow down...to appreciate the moments that are gone all to quickly. "We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come..." Revelation 11:17 <><

The Little Things

I love airport reunions....while we waited for my husband's plane I watched as other people waited for their loved ones. I felt like I was eavesdropping on their reunion, but it was so wonderful to share a small part of that moment with them. All the emotions you see....sheer joy, smiles, laughter, tears, laughter through tears. It's an amazing thing to witness. So much love. And then it was our turn. I was holding them back, like horses ready to speed out of the gate. They spotted him in the corridor. I explain to my three year old that she may jump up and down and shout all she wants, but under no circumstance may she cross the "DO NOT ENTER" line. I hold her hand to insure that she doesn't bolt out of excitement. Then after what seems like an eternity he reaches us and we have our very own airport reunion for on lookers to share in. Two months is a long time. And we all breathe a collective sigh of relief. Thank you Lord.

A New Day

Kensley waking up in a good mood! Answered prayer, Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee, for the theme song from the Disney show Fish Hooks (can't stand the show, but the song makes me laugh), for lemons in my tea, for a huge roll of paper and crayons scattered on the floor that equal my daughter's "masterpiece", for clean, pressed, and organized school uniforms, for new school shoes and supplies that signal the start of a new school year and remind me of the wonderful summer that I shared with my three KP's, for the sight of Kensley as she puts her freshly laundered blanket (Pippy) to her little nose and inhales it's familiar, comforting scent, for grass that's just been mowed, for my two oldest girl that love to cook and are making me supper(details to follow on the condition of my kitchen), and for the few moments when everything is clean and put in it's proper place. <>< Acts 28:15 "...When Paul saw them he thanked God and took courage....

It's Monday!!

So I woke up this morning struggling to find something to be thankful for. I pushed on and put pen to paper. After a few pauses, the "thankfuls" started pouring out. For quiet time alone with God, for a copy of His Word, for His patience with me, for Jeremy coming home for a visit, for good health, for insurance, for Bro. Headly's message yesterday, for singing...music....choir, for books, for Kaylee fixing Kensley's morning sippy cup of strawberry milk (today I am MOST thankful for this small act of kindness from my sweet girl...it turned my mood around) for sleep, for prayer. <>< Luke 17:15-16

Here I go....

First of all I'm asking myself what in the world am I thinking starting a blog. I don't really have anything to say that will WOW the world or be life changing. Not to mention that my girls think this whole idea is absolutely ridiculous! But I've been kicking this idea around for a while now and woke up today and decided to jump. I told a friend recently that I wouldn't make a very good blogger because I have all these thoughts jumbled up in my head and I just start typing and they come out in random order. So there's your warning label! This will be a blog of random thoughts....and maybe, just maybe, I'll find some fellow random thinkers out there that will be able to follow me and glean some sort of encouragement from my rambling. FYI what may come across as rambling is intended to be eucharisteo. Eucharisteo (yoo-khar-is-teh'-o) - 1. to be grateful, feel thankful 2. give thanks. Because it's Friday; for the cooler temps after the rain; beautiful bea...
