Opportunity

This weekend we have an opportunity.

An opportunity to lift up the women in our lives.

Sunday is the day marked on our calendars for the celebration of our Mothers.

I applaud the Mothers that are reading here. Mothers everywhere. In whatever season of motherhood that you may find yourself.

I want to give encouragement to women everywhere who long to, but are yet to be mothers. I want to let you know that even if you never usher a child into this world that shares your DNA, there is someone out there that needs a mother figure in their life. Sweet sister, you just might be that woman.

To the Mothers who didn’t experience the pains of birthing, but have their own sense of birth pains through adoption.

For the Mothers who carried that precious child for those days, weeks, or months and had to give him or her back to the Father.

For the grieving Mothers. The widowed Mothers. The single Mothers.

For the Mothers missing their own sweet Mamas. Longing for one more piece of advice on how to navigate this thing called motherhood.

Ladies I’m on my feet jumping up and down applauding like mad!!! I’m your cheering section!! The one on your sidelines shouting “You can do this thing!!!!“, “You are beautiful!!“, “You are a GREAT Mom!“, “You offer so much to this world!”

I want to challenge the women here to live lives that are Godly examples to the girls in your care. Girls that may one day grow up to be Mothers themselves.

I am so thankful to God for blessing me with the privilege of being a Mother x 3. I sort of think of my girls as being on loan to me from God. They are, after all, His children and I'm merely the fortunate women that He has chosen to be their caretaker here on this earth.

**This is post that I made several years ago. Since its original publish date I've had to put feet to that last paragraph, and trudge through the reality of it rather than just the idea of it.

So I'm saying a special prayer this Mother's Day for the Mamas that made it through infancy, toddler-hood, elementary, middle, and high school, then had to watch them walk into the arms of God.  These days of Motherhood led to parenting that transformed to friendship. Days full of memories. So full in fact, that there is nowhere you can turn that doesn't hold a memory of your child.

I'm grieving with you today, Mama. God is grieving with you. And even though we may not always feel it, He still promises to never leave us nor forsake us.

All we can do is stand on that promise.

Until we meet again.

Motherhood is a tough job and is definitely not for the faint of heart. So I am here today to tell you moms, and moms in training….press on. Keep fighting the good fight and keep pointing your children (no matter what age), and the children in your sphere of influence, toward Jesus.

I ran across a post recently, written by Heather Boresma that I think sums up the cry of a Mother’s heart in a few, simple, yet beautiful words.

She says….

I want to love better, without selfish ambition or vain conceit.

To serve, to give, to unload and load the dishwasher a thousand times in a row. To empty the garbage at 9:38pm without a negative thought. To get up to lock the doors or turn down the thermostat. To sweep and dust and as I work, allow myself to be renewed and refined and put back into my rightful place – below the ones I love.

I want to love like Jesus.

Happy Mothers Day to you all!!!

Loving you,

Thanking God for you,

Recognizing what you’re going through and what you have been through,

Tracey
